That's what makes DE games good, you can approach any mission in any way and they're all viable methods. If you want to go in guns blazing, you can. If you want to sneak your way in, you can. If you want to hack your way in, you can. Obviously you also build Jensen's abilities to compliment the playstyle you want to use. And yes, your actions have consequences, so sometimes you may want to think about what you're doing before you do it.

I don't have the game that's why I'm asking. User Info: Deezgenitals Deezgenitals 5 years ago 3 This is my first Deus ex game and I'm only on like the second or third mission but as far as I've seen, there's no melee combat. Takedowns and stun-guns have consumable ammo or energy and are not considered melee weapons. I'm not saying that having melee weapons in the game is an important feature or anything, but until the game lets you equip an item that lets you attack enemies from close range without having ammo, this game does not have melee weapons.
Also, melee weapons are not insta-takedown weapons, and both stun guns and takedowns are basically insta-takedowns. And if you are facing a huge robot, and you got it down to its last hitpoints but don't have any more ammo left, you still can't perform a takedown on it - but you theoretically can use a melee weapon to hit it over and over until it dies.
You people have really weirdly restrictive definitions on what you'll accept is melee Originally posted by renboy :. Last edited by , ; 20 Jul, am. Couldn't have agreed more. Look, I love the reboot of DX, and played HR at least 3 times from start to end in different ways of course , and I'm super hyped for the upcoming mankind divided; That said, I don't blindly defend these games - no game is perfect not even the first Deus Ex and obviously there is no Melee weapons in this game because the devs figured it will not work well with the system it currently has, which is fine by me.
But mindlessly arguing that the game actually has melee weapons is really childish and just makes you look like a mindless fanboy - So i'll stop replying to this topic anymore. I'm sure a very 'detailed' reply will be made, so have fun writing it, C'ya. Whiskers ; 20 Jul, am.
You ain't seeing this how I'm seeing it. Melee weapons are non existent in the current Deus Ex, the blade is not even close to a melee weapon, your character uses it, it's all in one animation, yes; even if there was melee weapon But the difference is YOU control the weapon, not your character. Posts: Does this new Deus Ex fix this immersion breaking feature?? Would be nice to know that there are some NON over-the-top super takedowns and attacks A simple jab, or light energy attack of some sort that NEEDS to be fired a few times to kill or knockout an enemy would be nice So in short, is there any cost efficient abilities such as a simple Jab, or melee attack with blunt end of a gun???
Showing 1 - 5 of 5 comments. Nobody knows yet, but it's likely that it's the same as the first game. That said, seen in the demos and such are tons of environmental items such as boxes and blocks and whatnot, all marked in 'white' showing that they can be picked and thrown - You can probably just pick up something and throw it on your enemy to cause some damage especially if you have the strength upgrade.
Originally posted by renboy :. Yes, ofc it is - You see it clearly in demos and recent gameplay when someone opens the augmentation selection wheel. Here is one, it you want to see the augmentation wheel, check out around - The slow time augmentation is the clock in the top left area notice that this wheel only shows the active augmentations, Jensen has many more passive augmentations and upgrades that are not shown here.
