These keys are usually pressed with the right hand: N, M - forefinger , - middle. I was trying it for a couple quotes and it is wild! Not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be though hahaha.

Obviously when gaming I use my left hand, but I found it interesting that I didn't continue to favor one over the other.

Needed a thumb splint and therefore my right thumb was unuseable.
Typing was extremely difficult because i had use my left thumb for spacebar. Took my WPM down from averaging wpm to about 85 wpm! I used to type about 90 wpm with over 95 accuracy, but since being a stay at home mom for the last 15 years, I'm at about 78 with 95 accuracy.

I think we're both quite good typists. The key is to stick with something and practice it. If you still haven't decided I'd say go with only left, the right hand is already busy with backspace. Alternately you can do what I did and stick with your dominant hand's thumb. I only type with my left middle finger and pinkie along with all four of my fingers on my right hand. It's weird, but does anyone else only type with 6 fingers? I use my index finger to press the space bar Anyone else?

Welcome to our community! Over the years, I've picked up my fair share of bad typing habits, one of which is to always use my left thumb to hit the space bar.
I always figured that the correct technique was the same as for the shift keys -- hit the space bar with the hand that was not just used. For a space following an '? However I've noticed that the tutor program I am using advocates the use of the right thumb for the space bar. I googled and saw a few other documents which also recommend this method. After 30 or so minutes of typing with the new method, I am fairly comfortable using only my right thumb for the space bar However the minute I stop thinking about it like right now I go back to using my left thumb.
It seems like a lot of effort to make this change in my typing style, for a potentially small gain. I was just wondering if anyone has any actual proof of which method is better and why. Join our community to see this answer!
