Is that Matt Murdock in the police station? Can we see Sandman in the big action scene? What is Doctor Strange up to? All these questions will be answered Maybe in the second trailer which is set to land imminently. We've got a lot of hope that the December release date will stick, despite previous delays for the movie. However, as we've seen, no upcoming release date is set in stone, so there's always the potential for it to be moved.
Filming eventually got underway with Holland joining the set in Atlanta in late October after wrapping filming on the Uncharted video game movie. Production wrapped in late March , barring any reshoots. The confirmation came from second unit director George Cottle who shared an image of the fake titles board from the official announcement.
Eagle-eyed fans also spotted Cottle hashtagging the name of Chris Daniels, who was Tobey Maguire's stunt double in the original Spider-Man trilogy, with some fans taking this as confirmation of the exciting returns. A post shared by georgejcottle georgejcottle. Well, Tom Holland will, of course, be back as Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, but he might actually look slightly different in the third movie — and we're not just talking about his body transformation.
He pretty much went straight from filming on Uncharted to the third Spidey movie and given that his Uncharted hair was "much cooler", Holland admitted that he refused to wear a wig to make his hair look more like Peter Parker's usually is.
Hannibal Buress also looks set to come back as Coach Wilson after sharing some on-set videos and another star who's confirmed their return is JB Smoove as Peter's teacher Julius Dell. Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange , taking on the mentor role filled by Tony Stark and Nick Fury in the previous movies. The first trailer confirmed, as speculated, that Peter seeks out his help in making the world forget he's Spider-Man.
This happened in the comics, but as with other MCU movies, it appears to be playing out in a different way as it seems to unleash the multiverse. Neither of those films are MCU movies, and from what Molina has said about his comeback, it seems they'll be coming back as we last saw them.
You know, when Doc Ock sacrificed himself to save the day. Doc Ock and Electro won't be the only past villains in town either as the first trailer confirmed the return of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. The actor had been coy about the rumours , but one pumpkin bomb later and we know he's in it. As of November 8, , the reported returns of the previous Spider-Man stars hasn't been officially confirmed by either Marvel or Sony, and some of the stars have gone on record to say they're definitely not in it.
But I ain't got a call," Garfield said in May The first trailer didn't feature either of the returning Spider-Men, but there is speculation that Doc Ock's closing line "hello Peter" isn't directed at Holland's version and is instead being spoken to Maguire. Holland has been insisting that he doesn't know if Garfield and Maguire are in the third movie , and then he went one step further and insisted that they definitely aren't in it.
Equally though, Holland has been talking about feeling as though Marvel is "tricking" him about the movie , and how no matter what answer he gives, it's impossible to give the right one. So who knows at this point. The star has been teasing the "coolest scene ever" featuring Peter, Happy Hogan, Aunt May and a mystery fourth character. Needless to say, that tease has seen Spidey fans jump to conclusions that it's another Peter joining them.
If we're being honest, we'd be surprised if Maguire and Garfield weren't in the movie, but perhaps it's all been one big misdirect worthy of Mysterio. Away from the multiverse shenanigans, the trailer confirmed that Marisa Tomei is also back as Aunt May. Could we see her blossoming romance with Happy Hogan Jon Favreau continue after he appeared in the trailer as well? One name that has popped up is Marc Webb, the man behind Day of Summer.
He was previously in discussions with the studio to take over Moneyball , but that job went to Bennett Miller. Michael Bay has also previously expressed interest in taking over the Spider-Man franchise and Seabiscuit director Gary Ross worked on one of the drafts of Spider-Man 4 and is said to be a huge fan of the comic book series.
